Why Jesus? First off, let me tell you why I believe in Jesus. After accepting Christ, my life has
completely changed for the good. Before I was saved, I had went through a divorce, I was a
borderline alcoholic. Nothing ever seemed to go right for me. Just when life would appear to be
going right, something would happen to knock me back a few steps. I could never get ahead. I
suffered a minor back injury that later became a full blown disability. I could barely work. I can
remember crawling on my hands and knees to my truck just to get to work, then suffering though
the rest of the day. My career was about over. This lasted about 3 years. Shortly after I got saved,
God healed my back during a church service. No prayer, just a gift from God. Also, I had worn
eye glasses since I was about five years old. My eyes were steadily getting worse. One day an
evangelist came to our church and at the end of the service he asked if anyone needed a healing
in their body. I raised my hand. He called all those that raised their hands to the altar and prayed
for us. That instant my eyes were healed. They were as good or better than with my glasses. Not
quite 20/20, but well enough to get the eyeglass restriction off my driver license a few days later.
My eye doctor was also amazed with my new found eyesight. Why not 20/20 ? I don't know, and
not going to complain, right? God also restored my marriage and delivered me from my drinking.
He has given me numerous financial blessings. I could go on and on with events just like this with
all kinds of prayers answered and miracles, all in Jesus’ name. If not Jesus, what is causing it
then? What I know is I have a peace that is indescribable, that could only come from God.
Everything else I ever tried, the drinking, immorality, etc.,although for a short time felt good, soon
after, that good feeling was gone, and usually replaced with more guilt and shame. When I learn
something from the bible and apply it to my life, I get the result that it says I would. So again,
something is causing that to happen. Most churches are FULL of people with the same
evidences. There are millions of miracles that can not be coincidences. It would only take one to
prove Gods existence. And I know you have heard of at least one. Forgive us that for the most
part we Christians have kept it to ourselves because a few people have mocked us. The non-
Christians don’t have a clue to the miracles, healing and super natural acts of God that are going
on in Churches all over the world.
You know there is a God. You know he will judge us according to our lives, (Romans 14:12).
This judgment will be according to the 10 commandments. They are as follows:
Exodus 20:1-17(LXX)
And the Lord spoke all these words, saying: I am the Lord thy God, who brought
thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
I. Thou shalt have no other gods beside me.
II. Thou shalt not make to thyself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are
in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the
waters under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the
Lord thy God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to
the third and fourth generation to them that hate me, and bestowing mercy on them that
love me to thousands of them, and on them that keep my commandments.
III. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord thy God will
not acquit him that takes his name in vain.
IV. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days thou shalt labour, and shalt
perform all thy work. But on the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God; on it
thou shalt do no work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy servant nor thy
maidservant, thine ox nor thine ass, nor any cattle of thine, nor the stranger that sojourns
with thee. For in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and the sea and all
things in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the seventh
day, and hallowed it.
V. Honour thy father and thy mother, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest
live long on the good land, which the Lord thy God gives to thee.
VI. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
VII. Thou shalt not steal.
VIII. Thou shalt not kill.
IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
X. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house;
nor his field, nor his servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any of his cattle,
nor whatever belongs to thy neighbour.
Most people think they are good enough to go to heaven. Galatians 3:24 says the law,(ten
commandments) is like a teacher,or mirror that will bring us to Christ. Let’s look into that “mirror”
and see who we really are by taking this simple test. It might interest you to know that I failed
every point of this test. Have you ever lied? Then that one offense would technically make you a
liar. Have you ever stolen anything? Even as insignificant as taking a stick of gum that didn’t
belong to you? This would make you a thief. Have you ever used Gods name as a curse word?
That’s called blasphemy. Have you ever looked at someone with lust? Jesus said that “if we look
upon a woman with lust, then we have committed adultery in our heart”(Matthew 5:28). Ever
hated someone? Jesus said then you have “committed murder” in your heart (1 John, 3:15). So
by your own evaluation, you are, (fill in correctly) a liar, thief, blasphemer, adulterer and (or)
murderer. That's only 5 of the 10. When you stand before God after you die will you be guilty or
innocent? You will be guilty like everyone else. “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of
God” (Romans, 3:23). You may think that God forgives us. That is not true. If you haven’t
accepted him as Lord and savior you are not forgiven. God is a just judge. Suppose you are
standing in front of a judge, guilty of several serious crimes. All the evidence has been presented
and there is no doubt of your guilt. All of your good deeds and apologies can’t erase the crimes.
So you are guilty and must be punished. The judge says you can pay $250,000 or go to prison.
You don’t have even close to the amount, but someone who loves you comes forward and pays it
for you. The punishment or debt has been paid, the law is satisfied and you are free to go. The
same is true of our sin. Our punishment or debt for our sin (even just one sin) is to spend eternity
in hell. Eternity is a looong time, especially when one considers what short time we spend here
on Earth. You will pay the debt yourself, or you can accept the one who paid our (your) debt for
us. His name is Jesus Christ. He was Gods only son, born of a virgin, lived a perfect sinless life
and took our sin upon Himself and paid our debt (Romans 5:8). He was crucified and died, went
to hell (Ephesians 4:8-10). He came back to life three days later (technically paid the price).
Jewish history cites well over 500 people stated they saw him alive. In that day, just saying this
would get you put to death, and many were. So don’t think they were making it up. They were
sure of who he was.
To accept Jesus’ payment, God says in the bible “with the heart man believes, and with the
mouth he confesses unto salvation”(Romans 10:10). Believing there is a God is not enough. You
can “believe” in parachutes, but there is a big difference in believing in them and having one on if
you jump out of an airplane. You already believe there is a God, but to be saved from your sins
and hell you must also confess him out loud with your mouth. Speak to him from your heart. Tell
him how you feel. Admit to him that you are a sinner and you need him to save you. Ask Him to
come into your life to strengthen and change you to how you need to be. “All who call on the
name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Then find at least a few people to tell that you
accepted Christ as Lord and Savior.. Jesus said if you/we confess him before men, He will
confess us before His father (God) but if we deny him before men, He will deny us before His
Father (Matthew 10:32-33).
If you prayed this prayer, or want to and would like someone to help you pray, or have
questions, please contact me. Don’t put this off. We all know people that died suddenly or
unexpectedly by some form of accident or health related issue. Once you die, it’s too late to make
that decision.
Start reading your bible, if you don't have one get one. If you can't afford one, contact me and
one will be provided for you. It's that important. It is the owners manual for your body, life, spirit,
and all eternity. The book of John is a good place to start. Then find a church that believes the full
Bible. You will know these Churches because they will be full of healings, miracles, signs and
wondrous things that only God can do. Then get ready to live the life God has waiting for you!
God wants to heal your body, deliver you from everything that is holding you back from living a
victorious life here on Earth. God “delights in the health and prosperity of His people”. He wants
to have an intimate relationship with you like a good father wants to have with his children. If you
didn't have a good father, he is waiting for you to come to Him. He will show you love that you
never thought was possible. He will heal that part of you life. He has plans to prosper you and not
to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). I don't want to sound misleading, the Christian life isn't always
perfect, but when trouble comes, it isn't long and things turn around and it's better than before.
Don't try to “clean up your life” before you go to church. God will take care of that if you allow
Him to. God accepts you like you are, “while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)
and a REAL church will accept you too. Pray for God to show you a church. And remember, even
though we claim to know God, we are still human beings and will fail, we will still do ungodly
things. Put your faith and trust in God, not in people. We will let you down, but God never will.
Don't look for church people to be perfect, we make mistakes and sometimes hurt peoples
feelings, go to church to meet with God and learn about Him. He is the only PERFECT one.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it is a blessing to you and leads you closer to
the God who gave His only son to die on the cross so He could wipe out your sin so there would
be nothing between you and Him that would keep you from spending eternity in heaven. God
bless you.
